I think it’s apt celebrating Indonesia’s 71th Independence Day and Olympic Games Rio 2016 by catching 3 Srikandi (2016) in red and white.
It’s been a while since I get to spend Indonesia’s national day at home. There aren’t much celebrations going in my neighbourhood, though. And since my siblings and I are done with studies, none of us is obliged to attend a flag raising ceremony at school or get to participate in traditional games on 17 August anymore, too. So besides putting up flags at home, the office and in the car, we didn’t do much.
It was nice to have 3 Srikandi (2016) featuring Reza Rahardian, Bunga Citra Lestari, Chelsea Islan and Tara Basro to be screened around Olympic Games Rio 2016 and national day – intentionally blurring the line between storytelling and reality. Combined with good technicality, the film’s compelling story line that is based on real life situations director Iman Brotoseno successfully unite the viewer’s hearts with the pride of their nation.
It’s good seeing how local productions are catching up with socio-cultural trends such as feminism, too. Don’t expect 3 Srikandi, which translates to 3 Heroes to be thought provoking, though. It is still commercialized and easy to watch but I like how the film chooses to use stories of passionate women figures to try portraying a nation’s hero. I like how it subtly delivers the narrative without being overly dramatic.
The Outfit Details
I think culottes is an amazing fashion piece. When you couldn’t even imagine the dilemma of looking dressy and staying comfortable on your rest day, culottes always single handedly save the day. The best thing is you don’t even need the help of accessories to look chic. If you love to keep things minimal, elegant yet comfortable, culottes would be your best friend.
This culottes from Kookai used to fit just right but now I look at it.. It looks a little too big, doesn’t it?
