How I Fell In Love With BTS At Their Red Bullet Tour in Melbourne

April 7, 2016

It’s been a while since my last K-Pop act so I decided to do a throwback post on BTS concert in Melbourne last year. It was so impressive, I’ve become a loyal fan since then.

For starters, I was surprised to see what talented professionals the boys were. They went on with their passionate performance for hours with little breaks in between, chunking down lots of water and taking turns to entertain the audience.

It’s not the usual K-pop concert I’m used to where the groups would deliver heartwarming fan service while stalling for longer rests with various activities, videos or long talks. Even though everyone except for Rap Monster wasn’t very well versed in English, the boys also consistently tried conversing in English without the help of translators.

I figured their effort deserves a round of applause and apparently their fans did too. Only that BTS fans, more popularly known as ARMY, showed theirs in a slightly different way. Not too long after the concert started, the sight of dancing light sticks and echoes of fan chants and voices singing along to Jongkook’s and Jimin’s incredible falsetto took my breath away.

Not knowing what to expect from a Hip-Hop live performance, I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it and enjoyable. But BTS really lived up to their name, and their performance was surely bulletproof!

Even when their songs are dominated with raps and detailed and dangerous dance stunts, they (mainly Jongkook actually) flawlessly to hit every high notes and sounded almost as good as the recording. Watching their spectacular B-Boy moves was as much thrilling as dancing to the songs itself.

Speaking of thrill, I experienced a different kind of thrill while trying to cover and share snaps of the event with ARMY on Hello Asia’s Twitter that night. But it was all worth it, wasn’t it?

Anyway, it’s always nice to see more K-pop acts performing in Australia. Well, Melbourne to be exact. Thank you for noticing Australian fans, BTS! We really appreciate it.
